In Germany, in 1924, Montblanc launched its mythical Meisterstück. In the same year the famous Swiss firm Caran d'Ache was created near Geneva and simultaneously a certain Mr Colombain opened a shop entirely devoted to the sale and repair of pens at 56, boulevard Saint-Michel under the name " Le Scribe Accroupi " ( The Kneeling Scribe ).
The shop was taken over 30 years later by Louis Laurent, a former pen nib manufacturer. After a few years, no doubt influenced by English phrases so in vogue at the time, took down the kneeling scribe which adorned the door and the shop was renamed " Stylo City".
The shop's location was at the heart of the events of May 1968 and consequently almost stopped trading for 2 months between the smashed shop windows and lingering smells of grenades.
